Raveonettes - "Aly Walk With Me" (Nic Endo Remix)
"Trentemöller and so many others are spinning it like crazy. It is fantastic that a band like Raveonettes is putting together an innovative remix project like this one!"
Landscape Izuma - "Remixed" EP
"Same here. Indie bands reaching out to electronic weirdos is always a good sign....I love remixes which provide you with a bunch of new ideas and twists on the original song. (As in comparison to mixes which are only supposed to fulfill a certain function, like getting people to dance. Remixes like the Landscape mixes have a much longer life.)
Big Pink - "Too Young To Love" (7-inch)
"Was about time that the My Bloody Valentine reunion spawned a bastard child. I know there are probably as many bands on myspace who claim to be inspired by this band but sound like nothing. So the guys from Big Pink have their own version of it, and it's not depressing indie (the average Bloc Party fan is lying in bed most of the time, cuddling with his cushion. this is not even nihilistic, it's just boring)."
Christoph De Babalon - "Scylla & Charybdis"
"Return of one of the finest electronic acts of the late '90s. Deep stuff. Order his deluxe package Vinyl from his own website."
Mutated Forms - "Trapped in a Dream"
"In 2008 I got interested in drum'n'bass again, or all the freak subgenres which have grown out of it in the past years. producers have been pushing new ideas forward again. Can't help it, I love fast tempo beats. This whole American-I-eat-Chicken-Wings-and-cruise lazy and flat hip hop thing is not for me. not anymore."
Kap Bambino - "Save" (7-inch)
"Kap Bambino vs Crystal Castles, and after this year has passed it has become obvious to everyone with a brain that Kap Bambino swept the floor with CC in 2008. Easily. This 7-inch is stronger than anything, now mark my words, ANYTHING that ever came out of Canada. ah - that felt good."
Cane - "Invent" EP
"Definitely the best techno EP which came out this year. In this genre it is hard to come up with something exciting, because the formula is so well known. And to fill that with excitement is quite an achievement."
Patrick Wolf - "Vultures"
"out in 2009 ;) but I know it since last autumn...so for me included in my best of the year list...I am aware of the fact that I am probably the only one who can mention this. ! Ha!"
