No Quarter RecordsPlease introduce yourself.
Mike Quinn. Owner of No Quarter Records

When and why did you start your label?
2001. I wanted to be a part of something I really enjoy.

What kind(s) of music does your label put out?
I never know how to answer this question. Rock?

What was your first release? How did you finance it?
With a small personal loan from the bank, and then working 80 hours a week since.

What is your most recent release?
Earth "Legacy of Dissolution" and The Psychic Paramount "Gamelan Into The Mink Supernatural" will both be released in Febuary, 2005.

How do you feel about sharing music on the Internet?
To be honest, I don't see it that much different than tape trading - It seems most damaging to major labels who continually push singles as opposed albums.

Any words of wisdom for those interested in running their own label?
It's incredibly hardwork but the payoffs are very rewarding.

What has been your most successful releases
Earth "Sunn Amps and Smashed Guitars"

What's the best way to get a label's attention?
I suppose the best way would be to release good, quality music

Regardless of genre, what do you look for in the artists and bands you sign?
There are tons of bands I'd love to work with - but since I'm a still a small operation, the #1 thing is that they'd be willing to take a chance.

There are a lot of legalities involved in running a label (signing bands, releasing records, everyday work, etc.). How does your label deal with these things?
With each release I gain more experience with these types of things. I prefer to keep the legal paperwork simple, though recently I have been getting into more complex areas. It's intimidating but also exciting.
