The three Southampton, UK members of Band of Skulls, Russell Marsden (guitar & vocals), Emma Richardson (bass & vocals) & Matt Hayward (drums), first met at college and quickly discovered that having two lead singers and three songwriters in a band was always going to present unlimited possibilities. With their creative process and sonic path fully intact the band quickly established themselves in the music and art community with a series of culturally inspired club nights in Southampton, London and further a field in Moscow and Tokyo.

For their new album 'Wooden Arms,' Patrick Watson and the Wooden Arms used foley effects, borrowing from the toolbox of 1940s cartoon and old Twilight Zone episodes. They decided to stay away from stock instruments like a standard drum kit and shun reverb and digital delays in favor of homemade and uniquely-created sounds. Watson says, "We are composing cinematic pop, as if Dolly Parton was a science fiction writer and lived in Iceland."
"Wooden Arms" will be released May 5 by Secret City Records. But get a sneak peek now with a free download of Patrick Watson & The Wooden Arms' "Tracy's Waters."

Children's debut thrash metal wailer "Hard Times Hangin' At The End Of The World" is out May 12th on Kemado Records. Formed through jam sessions by guitarists Skyler Spohn, Jonny Ollsin (formerly of Vancouver's S.T.R.E.E.T.S.), and drummer Adam Bennati (of Early Man), the NYC trio laid waste to clubs in and around the city beginning in late 2006, releasing their "Death Tribe" 12" single in early 2008.
Produced by Joe Blaney (whose hundreds of credits include the Clash's Combat Rock), the band tracked the songs live at Applehead Studios in Woodstock, NY, on all analog gear and 2" tape for a truly thick, punishing and fluid sound.

Undeniably one of the most important and influential gay music acts in the last twenty years, Pansy Division pioneered the “queercore” genre long before other gay musicians had the confidence to come out of the closet. With album titles like Undressed (Lookout! Records, 1993) and Deflowered (Lookout! Records, 1994), and song titles like "Bill & Ted's Homosexual Adventure," their bluntness and humor stood out amidst the '90s alterna-rock scene.
Now the band are back with "That's So Gay," their eighth studio album overall and their first new album in six years. Preview the album, out March 31st on Alternative Tentacles, with a free download of "Twinkie, Twinkie Little Star."
A seemingly unlikely collaboration but one that has borne compelling and captivating results, O+S has completed its self-titled debut, to be released March 24 on Saddle Creek Records. Buoyed by Orenda Fink's (Azure Ray, Art In Manila) lilting vocals and propelled by the sonic collages of Scalpelist (aka Cedric LeMoyne of Remy Zero), the album is a hauntingly beautiful collection of light/dark, electronic-tinged pop, drawing inspiration equally from the films of David Lynch as well as classic 4AD Records.
