Mat Devine of Kill HannahWhy don't you introduce yourself and tell us a little about Kill Hannah.
je m'appele mat devine. if you've read our message board, then you are fully aware that i am an ego maniac, a junkie and a womaniser.

How did the band meet?
i found greg working at a night club, dan modeling in los angeles, jon at a nine-inch-nails studio session, and garret while he was playing in another band.

You guys have a great website and seem to have a considerable following online. Do you think the Internet has had any profound impact on the awareness of Kill Hannah? Has your Internet experience, as a musician, been a positive one so far?
yeah, the internet has proven invaluable for a band like us. suddenly, without radio play or a video, we have instant exposure to potential fans from chicago to taiwan. in the last 2 years, a very vibrant and exciting online music community has formed around KH. it's a quick and cost-effective way for us to spread information, and a great way for assholes to spread misinformation.

I noticed that you've recently released 3 new tracks through your website. Does this signal the possibility of a new album or EP in the near future? Or are you focusing on something else right now?
we are focussing on an album to be released on a big scale.

As a song writer, do you find it easier to write about experiences you've had, fiction or a mix of the two? Do you sit down and say "I'm going to write a song" or wait for inspiration to hit you?
i'm always chasing inspiration. the best music comes to me when i'm enjoying life, and the best lyrics come to me when i want to die.

For non-Chicago Kill Hannah fans, what are the atmosphere of your concerts and the fan response like?
there's almost always a fantastic electricity in the air... a real tangible energy. the crowds are large and excitable. it's just such an entertaining experience for us.

Where do you see the band in 10 years?
fishing in jamaica.

Ok, what are you currently listening to?
you picked a bad day, and i have to be honest: hoobastank, my bloody valentine and kill hannah.

Favorite album(s) of all time?
peter gabriel: so
U2: war

What bands or albums have influenced you?
early on, i was very influenced by the lyrics of michael stipe and morrissey. musically by the cure and depeche mode... but lately i've been just as open to pink and ratt and linkin park and the faint and no doubt.

What band do you think is underrated and deserves more attention?
journey. have you heard of them?
