Miss TK And The Revenge's Tannis

Let's do some introductions. Who is Miss TK And The Revenge?

Miss TK (vocals, synth)
Ari Katz (drums)
Jamie Goldfarb (guitar)
Josh Pivnick (bass)
Claudio DiZefalo (synth)
Bob Vaccarelli (percussion, synth)

How and when did the band come together?

The band originally formed back in 2003 and has had a few line up changes since. Ari and I wanted to start a band that was low maintenance, meaning no pressure to tour, meet label demands, etc., but still made good music. We had some silly ideas for songs, got together with some musician friends and started jamming.

What are the highs and lows of having a husband-wife duo in the band?

The highs are that we get to work together and bounce ideas. We work together well. But it[']s difficult to hook up with our fans after a hot set. And also getting a babysitter.

Miss TK And The Revenge has a sound that diverges from some of the previous bands that your members have been in (Lifetime, Zero Zero). What kind of response, originally, did you receive from friends about Miss TK And The Revenge?

Our friends have always been supportive. All five of them.

Had the punky-new wave-electronic sound been something you'd always wanted to do?

Maybe the little girl inside me always wanted to, but we never said, "its gotta be THIS..." Ari and I are influenced by many styles of music. But a good beat is hard to resist.

"The Ocean Likes To Party Too" has a sound that is definitely like your past releases but it sounds distinctly different - the electronics and the tone, in particular. How would you characterize the sound of "The Ocean Likes To Party Too?"

If I may quote TLC, I would call it "Crazy, Sexy, Cool"

What made you want to donate a portion of the proceeds from your new album to the Surfrider Foundation?

It was our label['s idea, actually, and it just seemed obvious that we say "yes". Since I was a child, I've been active in helping to raise awareness for animal and environmental causes.

Do you have any influences you think listeners would be surprised by?

Fozzie Bear.

Who are some underrated bands that you think we need to check out?
I'm not hip enough to answer this.

What have you been listening to recently?

Hot 97

If you could have written any song what song do you wish you had written and why?

Sometimes I hear a song that I can connect with so much, musically, lyrically, and get so psyched on it that I get a little bit of that "Damn! I wish I wrote that!" feeling. I imagine it must feel incredible to write a song so amazing and rad and beautiful. But I don't have a particular track that I could pull out, to answer your question.

Anything you would like to add?

I like squirrels.

Thanks very much for your time!
