The Morning After Girls' Martin

The new album is described as "celebrat[ing] [..] feeling of aloneness." Can you talk about that concept?

In today's day and age, people are faced with the paradox of their lonely existence in a time where advances in technology provide the most illusory feeling of togetherness. Language is being used in a very mis-leading way today, in regards to the internet, etc, and I think it's sad that so many people have never met the other people that they refer to as friends.

When they realise [sic] this, they don't know how to deal with feeling of being alone. I profess that real aloneness [sic], is the most empowering and loving feeling that a person can feel.

How do you feel "Alone" compares to your previous material?

More experiences, more years of living through different relationships, different geographical experiences, rising, falling. Quite simply, life. As we live, our perspective is widened, so to is this album. That is, a naturally wider scope of expression.

What led to the band's line-up changes and spurred the relocation to NYC?

Myself and Sacha have always said we wanted to be based in New York. In terms of Western cities, it's place that's always felt like home. Not everyone feels that way.

Are you looking forward to touring the USA again? What can fans look to expect from your upcoming shows?

We are very much looking forward to touring the USA again. All I can say is that we expect to share what we love most; pure expression of the most beautiful thing ever, pure music.

Who are some underrated bands that you think deserve more attention?

There are too many to mention one over another.

What have you been listening to recently?

Music? I don't tend to listen to much music. If anything, it would be classical music; Chopin, Rachmaninov, Haydin.

If you could have written any song what song do you wish you had written and why?

Because - The Beatles. Beauty in sadness, Beauty in happiness, Beauty in wonder.

Anything you would like to add?

Be your heart and the rest will take care of itself.

Thank you very much.
