“There are no small emotions for Ms. Galás … She takes up fear and rage, mourning and vengeance; her voice can reach operatic heights or slice through a room with primal moans, shrieks and sobs.” —The New York Times
Vocal virtuoso, pianist, composer and performance artist,
Diamanda Galás is considered one of the most startling artists of our time for her highly individual, operatic and politically charged performance pieces, in addition to her unforgettable jazz and blues stylings. She creates intense gospels of despair, desolation and redemption with her multi-octive range, classical training and creative disregard for musical genre.
Performing select dates in California this October, Galás will be performing selections from the album Defixiones during her San Francisco engagements and debuting material from her forthcoming studio album Guilty Guilty Guilty in Santa Cruz and Los Angeles. Guilty Guilty Guilty is scheduled for release on Mute North America in 2007.
