American Laundromat Release Digital Split Single With R.E.M., John Lennon Covers

American Laundromat Records officially announces the release of an iTunes-exclusive digital split single titled “Everybody Hurts/Imagine” featuring Elk City covering R.E.M.’s “Everybody Hurts,” and Steve Rizzo covering John Lennon’s “Imagine.” The single is available on iTunes worldwide!

Elk City is a New York quartet featuring singer/songwriter Renée LoBue, drummer/producer Ray Ketchem, influential ex-Luna guitarist Sean Eden and ex-Lovelies bassist Barbara Endes. Elk City is favorite at American Laundromat Records covering "Helpless" for the Neil Young tribute/charity CD "Cinnamon Girl - Women Artists Cover Neil Young For Charity," "Monkey Gone To Heaven" & "No. 13 Baby" for the Pixies tribute "Dig For Fire," and most recently covering The Cure's "Close To Me" for ALR's upcoming Cure tribute. "Everybody Hurts" was originally recorded for Stereogum's R.E.M. tribute.

Steve Rizzo is a vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, engineer, and producer. Most recently, he wrote, performed, and recorded the theme song for Anna Nicole Smith’s last movie, “Illegal Aliens.” He has been making records at Stable Sound Studio for over 20 years, working with alternative artists such as Kristin Hersh, Throwing Muses, Belly, Small Factory (Spin Art), Gouds Thumb (BMG), and Jo Davidson among others.

American Laundromat Records is an indie-rock label based out of Southeastern, CT. Founded in April of 2004 by Joe Spadaro the label is best known for producing tribute compilations.
