Barenaked Ladies' Kevin Hearn & Thin Buckle Ready Album

Barenaked Ladies' Kevin Hearn and Thin Buckle announce the release of new album - "Havana Winter" - out this summer on Hearn's own label Celery Music with distribution by ADA. "Havana Winter" was recorded in Hearn's hometown of Toronto with longtime creative collaborator and co-producer Michael Phillip Wojewoda (Hearn shares co-production credits). Featuring guest appearances by friends both old and new, including musical luminaries Lou Reed and Laurie Anderson, the album is a rich and rewarding listen. New songs and old favorites will be performed at several exclusive Summer 2009 dates including shows at Mercury Lounge in NYC, The Mint in LA, and World Café Live in Philadelphia.

In addition to his fourteen years as keyboardist in the multi-platinum and Grammy nominated pop band Barenaked Ladies, Hearn has lent his musical talents to a number of recordings including recent releases by artists including The Tragically Hip, Broken Social Scene, Ron Sexsmith (who he has co-written with) and Garth Hudson (The Band). In between touring and recording with Barenaked Ladies, Hearn found the time to release his debut solo album, "Mothball Mint," in 1997. Soon after, he found himself reunited with his former The Look People bandmates, bassist Chris Gartner and drummer Great Bob Scott, who along with guitarist Brian Macmillan formed Kevin Hearn and Thin Buckle and released their debut album, "H-Wing" in 2001. It was at that time that Hearn was in the hospital being treated for leukemia. He required bone marrow transplants from his brother and eventually his cancer went into remission. In 2003, he released "Nightlight," a record that was a symbol for the hope and guidance people draw upon during rough times. Reflecting upon the past five years, Hearn further explored his personal struggle with cancer and its treatment in the critically-acclaimed 2006 release, "The Miracle Mile."
