Bayside Announce New EP "Covers - Volume 1" Coming October 23rd

Melodic rock/punk heavyweights Bayside have announced the October 23rd release of a new EP. Entitled Covers - Volume 1, the EP will be released on the Queens, NY based band’s own Gumshoe Records (which also released front-man Anthony Raneri’s solo EP, New Cathedrals recently). Acting as free agents, the EP is a complete DIY effort (being funded, released and even shipped by the band), and will see the popular punk band tackling songs from not so obvious influences.

Of the EP Raneri says “We are locking in a new label right now and intend to start writing a new album in January. However we wanted to put out something to tide over our fans until we can deliver another album. We have become known for doing cover songs during our live shows and doing a covers EP is a blast for us. However these aren’t standard covers that people in our scene would think that we would do. These are songs that we grew up on and would love to share the influence to a new generation who may not know them.”

Expect Bayside to tackle songs from such legendary artists as Van Morrison, The Ronettes, Del Shannon, Elvis Costello and Billy Joel. This EP will also mark the return of Shep Goodman as producer for the band (who produced the band’s landmark 2005 self-titled album as well as 2007’s The Walking Wounded).

Bayside will launch special album bundles via their website on October 8th. The band will also be on a U.S. tour through October and November with Taking Back Sunday. (Confirmed tour dates below)
