Hailing from Los Angeles, CA, Best Coast is the musical collaboration between Bethany Cosentino and Bobb Bruno and on November 24th the duo will release their self-titled 7" exclusively via the Black Iris Label. The release features two new original tracks - "When I'm With You" A-Side and "This is Real" B-Side - which were recorded with Lewis Pesacov (Fool's Gold, Foreign Born) who also co-engineered the album with Michael Harris, and produced by the Black Iris collective in their LA studio. Both songs will be available for purchase on November 10th via all digital outlets, and as a special bonus Black Iris will offer the "When I'm With You" A-Side exclusively via their label site November 10th as a free download.
The news of this Best Coast 7" follows on the heels of a series of extremely well-received shows at this year's annual CMJ Music Conference in New York City. SPIN included Best Coast in their "25 Must-Hear Artists" preview, FADER featured the duo in their exclusive festival coverage, and critics raves poured in from outlets including The Village Voice, Pitchfork, and Time Out New York among others.
The Best Coast 7" is the fifth release for LA's influential Black Iris Label. The label introduced itself to the world when it released the first Fool's Gold 7" in 2008 and since then have put out 7"'s from a variety of artists including Flowers of Doom, Bad Veins and Foreign Born. Founded by the Black Iris Collective, the Black Iris Label is quickly establishing itself as one of the most pioneering labels today. Practicing a unique collaborative process, its core musicians that make up the Black Iris Collective, actively work alongside each artist in studio; underscoring their mission to create music as a unit. It is only fitting that Best Coast, a duo brimming with innovative ideas and talent, have found a home on the Black Iris Label, a community of fresh, young musicians rooted deep within the independent music scene.
