Billy Talent Announce US Release Of New Album "Dead Silence"

Billy Talent have announced the U.S. release of their long-awaited fourth album, Dead Silence on September 11th. To be released on Last Gang Records (Death From Above 1979, Lights) Dead Silence is the band’s first release not to have a number in the title (the last being 2009’s full-length III). It also marks the most ambitious and fully-realized work the band has delivered yet, a true tour de force rock album.

Evidence of this intensity is in the video for Viking Death March, which was the first song released to the public this past spring. An audio stream of the song was released scant days before the band performed at the Rock Am Ring festival in Germany. The video documents the performance, with over 100,000 fans singing along to the brand new song, a testament to the band’s strong world audience. As UK music mainstay, Metal Hammer said Talent is “one of the most deservedly big deals in rock in recent years.”

The video for Viking Death March has already surpassed over 403,000 views online.

The album was produced by Billy Talent guitarist Ian D’Sa in studios across Toronto, Vancouver and Los Angeles. It is fourteen songs that tie in with each other in a journey through highs and lows which “represents all aspects of life basically,” says singer Ben Kowalewicz. Rounded out by drummer Aaron Solowoniuk and bassist Jon Gallant) Billy Talent has been at its core four friends musical journey over the past two decades.

That core was shaken last winter when Solowoniuk revealed that he had to undergo heart surgery. That information may offer some insight into why Dead Silence is charged with the most honest, deep and dark lyrics from the band to date. “A lot of the album has to do with how important it is not to get caught up in material culture, internet culture and all those things that distract us from what’s real,” reveals Kowalewicz.

Billy Talent will be spending the better part of this fall touring around the world.
