Dangerbird have announced that Seattle rock quintet Brad has signed with Dangerbird Management. The band-featuring Stone Gossard (Pearl Jam), Regan Hagar (Satchel, ex-Malfunkshun), Shawn Smith (Pigeonhed, Satchel) and Keith Lowe-are currently recording their self-produced fifth studio album at Studio Litho in the Fremont neighborhood of their hometown. Brad is also expected to commence with a series of releases beginning in autumn 2011, and will tour in support of those releases (details will be announced soon).
"We couldn't be more excited to begin what we hope is a long-term partnership with Jeff Castelaz and Dangerbird Management," said the members of Brad in a collective statement. "We hope our new music can reach more people in the years to come, and are thrilled that Jeff is compelled by Brad's music to have us as clients."
"Brad are real musical craftsmen, and it's a complete honor to work with them," said Jeff Castelaz, Co-Founder and CEO of Dangerbird. "Our entire office is engrossed in the new music. We're excited to bring Brad's music to the world in the coming months."
Brad officially formed in Seattle in 1992. The original line-up was composed of vocalist Shawn Smith, guitarist Stone Gossard, bassist Jeremy Toback and drummer Regan Hagar. The band's 1993 debut album, "Shame," was released through Epic Records, followed by "Interiors" in 1997. Rolling Stone praised their sophomore album with "the pure pop focus of these nuanced compositions," while the band's cult audience expanded during tours through the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. 2002's "Welcome to Discovery Park" was followed by their fourth studio album, "Best Friends?," which was released in August 2010 via Pearl Jam's Monkeywrench Records label.
Dangerbird was co-founded by CEO Jeff Castelaz and Peter Walker in 2004. Dangerbird's business consists of five divisions - record label, management, music publishing, merchandising and recording studio - and is now home to more than 30 bands and producers. Dangerbird Management represents Eagles of Death Metal, Boots Electric, Jon Fratelli of The Fratellis (whose debut album sold in excess of 3 million worldwide), and producer Tony Hoffer (Phoenix, The Kooks, Beck). Key Dangerbird Records artists include Fitz and the Tantrums, Minus the Bear, The Limousines, Beady Eye and Silversun Pickups.
