Celan’s eagerly awaited debut album, "Halo," will see a September 1st US release via Exile On Mainstream Records. Featuring a who’s who of prominent experimental musicians including Unsane front man Chris Spencer, Einstuerzende Neubauten/Redux’s keyboard player Ari Benjamin Meyers, flu.id’s Franz Xaver and Phil Roeder along with Oxbow guitarist Niko Wenner, the quintet immediately sent tongues wagging and bloggers blogging when they posted a trio of tracks on their MySpace page this winter.
“I’ve always wanted to play in another band that’s different than Unsane,” explains Spencer. “Something more musically developed that is also able to exploit the raw noise from my neighborhood. The whole collaboration turned out better than I could have hoped.”
Founded and based in Berlin, the outfit has a European tour plotted with a US run being planned. Dates are as follows:
Spencer and Meyers are currently working on the score to "La Mute," a French hardcore gore film.
