Los Angeles based quintet, Darker My Love have announced the release of their new album, "Alive As You Are." Set for an August 17th release on Dangerbird Records, "Alive As You Are" was recorded at San Francisco's legendary Hyde Street Studios with producer Nick Huntington (of acclaimed electronica duo Freescha) and is the band's most musically focused and emotionally direct collection to date. Beginning June 4th in Dublin, Ireland, the band will head out on a six-date run with Band of Horses throughout the United Kingdom. A full North American tour to be announced shortly.
To get fans excited, the band is offering the driving new track "Dear Author," a song full of stomp, hypnotic arrangements and soulful harmonies, for free download at Dangerbird's website.
"Alive As You Are" is the follow up to the band's breakthrough sophomore album "2," which received across-the-map critical acclaim for its mind-bending neo-psychedelic grooves and hazily anthemic hooks. Along with Alternative Press, Filter, The Guardian and the NME, The Los Angeles Times raves "peel away the stoner rock and shoegaze labels you may have affixed to the Los Angeles quintet ... and meet 2, a sophomore album so deep in aural and emotional layers you don't quite know what to call it" while The Village Voice simply says "Darker My Love put out one of the most indelible indie-pop records of '08."
