First Aid Kit's Exclusive ITunes Session To Be Released September 11th, 2012

Stockholm, Sweden's First Aid Kit will release an exclusive iTunes Session on September 11th, 2012. Recorded in New York's Sear Sound studio in July, the session includes eight tracks: four songs from their acclaimed sophomore album The Lion's Roar; one song each from their debut LP The Big Black and the Blue and their debut EP Drunken Trees; upcoming single "Wolf", previously available only as an iTunes bonus track; and the only recorded version of their celebrated Patti Smith cover "Dancing Barefoot", which has become a live fan favorite. Each album or EP track features a slightly restyled arrangement from the earlier recorded versions - highlighting sisters Klara and Johanna Söderberg's sumptuous harmonies and stellar songwriting - and all are augmented by a full string section for the first time. The Lion's Roar producer Mike Mogis (Bright Eyes, Monsters Of Folk) plays on all songs, and Conor Oberst reprises his guest verse on "King of the World."

The lush and billowing "Wolf" will also be released next as a new single on September 18th. First Aid Kit recently shot an accompanying video with director Johan Söderberg in remote Hälsingland, Sweden that will be coming soon.

Wichita Recordings will release a limited edition, deluxe CD package of The Lion's Roar on October 2nd that will be available at retail and all upcoming shows. The deluxe edition features the standard album track listing with additions of songs "Wolf", "Marianne's Son" (the title track single B-side), and "I Just Needed A Friend" (the "Emmylou" single B-side). The set will also include a DVD of on-the-road documentary Follow You Down, shot over a week in April 2012 during the band's North American tour, and the music videos for "The Lion's Roar", "Emmylou", and "Blue", as well as a poster and First Aid Kit guitar pick.

It's been a truly banner year for First Aid Kit, who recently achieved yet another career highlight by performing Simon & Garfunkel's "America" at this year's Polar Music Prize ceremony to a standing ovation from Paul Simon. In the past 12 months alone, the band has performed at the Lollapalooza ("Klara Soderberg sings about broken hearts as her whippoorwill voice breaks them...close high harmony vocals and soulful folk result in the best opening performance at Lollapalooza that I've ever seen" - Chicago Tribune), Newport Folk, and Coachella festivals; supported Jack White in Europe; sold out headlining shows in New York, Washington, DC, Montreal, Toronto, Chicago, Minneapolis, Seattle, Portland, and San Francisco; supported Lykke Li, Bright Eyes, and Conor Oberst in the US; and made their US television debut on Conan. The Lion's Roar has sold over 150,000 copies worldwide (over 50,000 in the US alone) and First Aid Kit will next embark on their biggest North American headlining tour to date.

First Aid Kit's fall North American tour begins on September 24th at the Metro in Chicago, IL and wraps up on October 20th at Neptune in Seattle, WA. The tour includes a two-night NYC-area stand at Irving Plaza in Manhattan on September 29th and the Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn on the 30th, as well as an October 16th show at The Fonda Theater in Los Angeles and an October 17th show at The Fillmore in San Francisco. First Aid Kit will also make their second trip to the Austin City Limits Festival on October 12th. A full itinerary is below.
