Celtic punk pioneers Flogging Molly have announced dates for their 9th Annual Green 17 Tour. The highly anticipated annual event will begin on January 24 in Grand Rapids, MI and will wrap on March 17th (St. Patrick’s Day) in Phoenix, AZ. The Green 17 Tour was born in 2004 as a countdown to St. Patrick’s Day with a performance and celebration in each city leading to the holiday.
Flogging Molly continue to live up to their road warrior reputation, spending the better part of 2012 touring the world on the heels of their acclaimed fifth album, Speed Of Darkness (2011). The band recently recorded a rollicking rendition of Bob Dylan’s “The Times Are a-Changin’” for the album Chimes Of Freedom: The Songs Of Bob Dylan, celebrating Amnesty International’s 50th Anniversary. The relevance of “The Times Are a-Changin’” around the time of its original release in 1965, could not be overstated. That relevance still holds true today, and the band felt compelled and honored to record it. Flogging Molly’s version was recently released to Alternative radio where it’s steadily moving up the charts.
Since their inception in Los Angeles in the late-1990’s, Flogging Molly has made fans worldwide with their blend of traditional Celtic sounds, edgy punk and thought-provoking, socially conscious lyrics. Their live shows have become legendary and they continue to bring new fans into the fold with each tour.
Tickets for the Green 17 Tour go on sale to the public November 16 & 17.
