Fueled By Ramen proudly announces the ambitious new album by Forgive Durden, “Razia’s Shadow (A Musical).” The intricately crafted concept recording – which features vocal performances from members of such bands as Panic At The Disco, Saves The Day, and Say Anything – marks a milestone for Forgive Durden, as they follow up their 2006 full-length debut, “Wonderland,” with an unprecedented work of rock ‘n’ roll songwriting and storytelling. “Razia’s Shadow” arrives in stores and at online music retailers on October 28th.
Composed and conceived by the band’s singer/songwriter Thomas Dutton, “Razia’s Shadow” is a full-on piece of musical talespinning, complete with elaborate characters, powerful themes, and a hauntingly beautiful narrative. The album tells the story of a world divided in two by the selfish actions of a powerful, egotistical, and yet insecure angel. After generations of darkness, the world is eventually brought back together by the love and sacrifice of a couple brave enough to fulfill their destinies.
The saga’s many characters are portrayed on “Razia’s Shadow” by a remarkable range of notable modern rock vocalists. Among the outstanding cast members are Forgive Durden’s fellow Fueled By Ramen artists, Brendon Urie of Panic At The Disco, Greta Salpeter of The Hush Sound, and Dan Young of This Providence, all appearing alongside members of such bands as mewithoutYou, The Dear Hunter, Say Anything, Saves The Day, Gatsbys American Dream, Portugal. The Man, The Audition, Man In The Blue Van, The Matches, and An Angle.
Details regarding “Razia’s Shadow” emerged over the past two weeks via a series of mysterious online clues at the musical’s official website. Snippets of the score and illustrations of the musical’s cast of characters (drawn by Blaine Fontana) offered fans a taste of what was to come. Further details emerged yesterday as the full www.raziasshadow.com page was launched, confirming the musical’s wide-impressive cast of performers.
The site is highlighted by “Life Is Looking Up,” the first single from ”Razia’s Shadow,” flanked by such special features as audio snippets, character images, a complete tracklisting and cast of characters, and an exclusive video message from Dutton introducing Forgive Durden fans to the band’s provocative new work.
In addition, fans now have the opportunity to pre-order a limited amount of deluxe CDs from the Fueled By Ramen webstore. The deluxe version of the album includes special DVD-sized packaging and a booklet with the musical’s entire script and illustrations. The album is also now available for pre-order through iTunes, including a bonus version which includes demo versions of some of the tracks.
Forgive Durden will herald the arrival of “Razia’s Shadow” with a major U.S. tour. The dates – a multi-artist bill along with Steel Train and Dear & The Headlights – will commence on October 18th at Hoboken, New Jersey’s world-renowned Maxwell’s, and then travel the country through late-November.
