Goldspot Releases Sophomore Album, Gets Ready For East Coast Tour

From New Delhi to New Jersey, Goldspot's sophomore LP, "And the Elephant Is Dancing," fuses the cross-cultural influences of frontman Siddhartha Khosla's upbringing into an infectious pastiche of indie-pop nuggets. The follow-up to the critically acclaimed debut, "Tally Of The Yes Men," is available now worldwide on iTunes. The new tracks will be showcased on a mini East Coast tour kicking off November 19th in New York.

Co-produced by Khosla and Beach Boys engineer Jeff Peters, this album has lived in Khosla's mind since he was a child, growing up in his New Jersey home listening to a mix of Bollywood oldies and Western rock bands. "Mohd. Rafi, Michael Stipe of REM, Kishore Kumar, and The Beatles all have inspired me ever since I could sing my first note," Khosla reveals. While these influences are widely apparent in the 11-song collection, the album also evokes sunny California pop, 1960s Indian films and George Harrison's psychedelia-tinged work.

Although just released, "And the Elephant Is Dancing" is quickly catching the ear of tastemakers. DJ's Jason Bentley (KCRW's music director and host of "Morning Becomes Eclectic") and Nic Harcourt have shown their continued support with early spins, with Harcourt declaring the album, "a timeless and original gem," adding: "It's as if George Harrison never left India." Continuing on the licensing success of their previous album which included films ("Run Fatboy Run," "The President Is Coming") and television ("The O.C."), the band's music was recently featured on the Emmy-nominated hit show "How I Met Your Mother." This fall, Goldspot will be heard in a multitude of arenas including an eBay commercial as well as on the soundtrack for the upcoming film, "Today's Special" (Aasif Mandvi of "The Daily Show w/ Jon Stewart").

Heralded by the Sunday Times (UK) as "one of the best bands to come out of America in years," Goldspot was formed by Khosla nearly a decade ago, and while he enjoys the creative dynamic a full band provides, he remains the solitary driving force, acting as the songwriter, singer and lead performer. Hit single "Friday," from his debut, put the band in the top 20 in the UK radio charts and at No. 10 in the alternative charts. Follow-up single, "It's Getting Old," was awarded an iTunes Single of the Week slot and became the retailer's largest free download in its history.
