Last.fm Announce Global Premeire Of New Sigur Rós Album

Last.fm, the CBS Corporation owned social networking music Web site, today announced that the new Sigur Rós album Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust, is now globally available for fans to listen to for free in its entirety on the site, two weeks before its official release on June 23.

Last.fm, the official online media partner of Sigur Rós for this album, made all twelve tracks live on the site yesterday. Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust - which translates as "With a buzz in our ears we play endlessly" - is the fifth studio album from the critically acclaimed Icelandic band.

Sigur Rós vocalist Jón Þór "Jónsi" Birgisson said: "We know our fans listen to Last.fm so it's the perfect place to be listening to our new album."

Martin Stiksel, Last.fm co-founder, said: "Sigur Rós are one of the most popular bands on Last.fm, with over 25 million plays, so we're thrilled to be able to offer our community the chance to hear their fantastic new album for free. After our Portishead premiere in April, it's great to see more bands embracing the opportunities that Last.fm provides to engage fans through free-on-demand streaming."

This Sigur Rós album preview is the second major free album premiere for Last.fm, following the site's exclusive streaming of the new Portishead album in April, which was listened to by over 300,000 music fans.
