LimeWire Store Releases "Ear To The Ground: Twin Cities"

From the wild stomp of The Trashmen to the punkish pop of The Replacements, and the purple funk of that guy who once had a squiggle for a name, to the poeti...c hip-hop of Atmosphere, the Twin Cities have a long and rich musical history. Starting today, LimeWire's digital music store, LimeWire Store, draws attention to the varied musical styles of Twin Cities with the release of "Ear To The Ground: Twin Cities," a 27-track digital sampler spotlighting the area's hottest up-and-coming artists.

"Ear To The Ground: Twin Cities" highlights a variety of Minneapolis' and St. Paul's flourishing independent artists. Music lovers who visit LimeWire Store will now also find full Featured Artist pages that include additional, free tracks and exclusive interviews with Twin Cities' artists Jeremy Messersmith, Trampled By Turtles, Solid Gold, and Peter Wolf Crier.

Some of the hottest artists from Minneapolis-based Green Room Music Source's CMJ Showcase are also featured on the on the sampler, including the indie folk rock of Communist Daughter, baroque pop of Me and My Arrow, indie alt-pop of The Idle Hands, and rock opera of Fort Wilson Riot.

To ensure that a diverse list of current Twin Cities' artists were included, LimeWire Store's editorial team curated the sampler by interviewing key staff at venues, top radio and retail outlets and local tastemakers throughout the region.

"The Minneapolis- St Paul scene didn't evaporate with the break-up of the Replacements and Husker Du, far from it," said Tom Monday, Director, LimeWire Store. "The Twin Cities are rife with great musicians making exciting music. We're thrilled to be bringing a larger audience to these artists by producing this new sampler and promoting the Green Room Music Source's CMJ showcase."

"Thanks to LimeWire Store, we're able to spread the word about some incredible Minneapolis bands within our CMJ showcase through this digital sampler," said Craig Grossman, Founder of Green Room Music Source, a Minneapolis-based artist development group.
