M83 Announce "We Own The Sky" Video Winner

M83 is proud to announce the winners of the "We Own The Sky" video contest: Alex Takacs and Joe Nankin of Young Replicant. M83 a.k.a. Anthony Gonzalez personally chose the winning video saying "I like the atmosphere of this video. It fits perfectly with the music and lyrics and is exactly what I had in mind when I wrote the song." Check out the video on Pitchfork TV or watch below.

Young Replicant is a teenage director's label and design collective consisting of Alex Takacs (Director, DP), Joe Nankin (Director, Producer), Adam Kauper (DP, Camera Operator), and Jackson Siedenberg (Special Effects). This video was directed by Takacs and Nankin. Their goal with this video was to interpret the pure, emotional essence of "We Own the Sky," and then communicate it through a simple story about young love, lens flares, and a confetti party. They set out to capture the beauty that lies between the daunting uncertainty and eternal optimism of youth, a theme prevalent in "Saturdays=Youth" and one which resonates in their own lives.

M83 returns to the US for a string of dates this May before heading back overseas to support Depeche Mode on their upcoming European stadium tour. Following the Depeche Mode tour, M83 will be back to headline additional US and Canada dates.

This has been an exciting time for M83. Following a UK tour with Kings of Leon, M83 visited the US for its own sold-out North American tour in 2008 and then returned to the US in early 2009 to tour with The Killers on their most recent North American arena tour. In addition, M83 performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic to a sold out house at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles (3/7/09), appeared in the Carson Daly outdoor concert series (3/11/09) and made their television debut on Late Night With Conan O'Brien (1/27/09).

Describing the live show as "propulsive" and "hypnotic," The New York Times proclaims M83 mastermind Anthony Gonzalez as the "electro pop wizard of a fragile dream world" (1/26/09). Rolling Stone says Gonzalez wins their award for "Our favorite French musician ever" (2/5/09).

M83's fifth album, "Saturdays = Youth," has taken them to new heights, performing well at radio, receiving accolades from all corners of the media and selling more than the band has ever sold. "Saturdays = Youth" debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top New Artist Heatseekers Chart, went to #1 on the CMJ Top 200, was the #1 record of 2008 at Urban Outfitters and received an NPR nomination for 2008 Album of the Year. The record met with additional critical praise including an 8.5/10 review ranking and a top-10 of 2008 nod from Pitchfork. It closed 2008 with multiple top album and top track nominations.

"We Own The Sky," the current single from M83's critically lauded album "Saturdays = Youth," is out now on all digital download sites. The five-track single includes the album edit, radio edit and a remix by UK producer and Mute labelmate Maps. In addition the single features a "Graveyard Girl" remix by Parkerlab (Parkerlab's Dusted Remix) and the exclusive B-side "Je Vous Hais Petites Filles.
