Murder By Death announces their fall touring plans in support of their latest album, "Good Morning, Magpie," with a headlining club tour set to begin September 10 in Urbana, Illinois and takes the band into Canada for three dates before finally wrapping in Newport, Kentucky on October 9.
"Being from a small town, we know that sometimes bands skip over the little cities in favor of bigger shows and more dough," said MBD's Adam Turla. "We wanted to play a few places we've never been to, and clubs we haven't played in years. Let's pack these rooms out, get drunk, and let our voices get hoarse from singing together. We will be joined every night on this tour by a new friend/cohort in music Scott Brackett (of Okkervil River) on piano, trumpet, accordion, percussion and backup vocals."
Tomorrow, August 3, "Murder By Death" embarks on a two-week tour supporting Philadelphia's mewithoutYou. Murder By Death will also be meeting fans and performing at a special in-store at Louisville's Ear X-tacy on Sunday, August 8 at 6pm.
The Indiana natives released their fifth full-length, "Good Morning, Magpie," on April 6 (via Vagrant) and immediately landed the #5 spot on Billboard's Heatseekers Chart as well as a debut appearance on Billboard's Top 200 chart.
The New Yorker proclaimed that "Good Morning, Magpie" is, "the four-piece's most accomplished work to date. The eleven new songs find Turla's deep and arid bass-baritone pitted against a tumbledown bricolage of dark vaudeville hysterics and Southern Gothicism."
