Murder By Death Become Third Highest-Funded Music Project On Kickstarter

Murder By Death are now the third highest-funded music project in Kickstarter's history, having successfully raised $187,048 via the crowd-funding website. The band launched their campaign on July 11th with an aim to fund the deluxe vinyl edition production of upcoming album Bitter Drink, Bitter Moon, and as a means to interact with their fans in a way they had never formally done previously. Offering a wide variety of packages - such as CD or special vinyl editions of Bitter Drink, Bitter Moon (which includes an instant download of first single "I Came Around"), one-year 'MBD Book Club' subscriptions (monthly delivery of recommended reading from the band), choosing tattoos for drummer Dagan Thogerson or multi-instrumentalist Scott Brackett, US house shows and more - Murder By Death reached their initial $100,000 goal on July 27th. By the time their campaign ended on August 10th, over 2,600 backers had purchased from the 34 pledge package options.

Signed to Bloodshot Records, Murder By Death's sixth album Bitter Drink, Bitter Moon will be released on September 25th, 2012 and is available for pre-order via the label's website and iTunes. The band is currently on a summer headlining tour through August 25th and will also head out on the road in support of Say Anything in October.

Murder By Death is: Adam Turla (vocals, guitar), Matt Armstrong (bass), Sarah Balliet (cello), Scott Brackett (backing vocals, piano, trumpet, accordion, among others), and Dagan Thogerson (drums).
