Murder By Death Premiere New Single "I Came Around"

Murder By Death premiered a stream of their new single "I Came Around" - the first off upcoming LP Bitter Drink, Bitter Moon - on RCRD LBL. Bitter Drink, Bitter Moon will be released on September 25th, 2012 via Bloodshot Records. The album can now be pre-ordered on CD and vinyl through the label's webstore, as well as in a multitude of formats and bundles via the band's Kickstarter page. Fans will receive an instant free MP3 download of "I Came Around" with each pre-order, and the track is also currently available as a standalone digital single exclusively through iTunes.

Murder By Death will head out on a North American headlining tour tomorrow, July 12th, playing Mr. Small's Theatre in Pittsburgh, PA. The tour winds across the US and Canada wrapping up on August 25th at the Metro in Chicago, IL, and includes two-night stands at the Bottom of the Hill in San Francisco on August 4th and 5th and at the Bluebird Theater in Denver on August 16th and 18th. Fans will also be able to pre-order Bitter Drink, Bitter Moon at all upcoming shows, and afterward will receive a code for a gratis download of "I Came Around" as well. This summer marks the 10th anniversary of the release of Like The Exorcist, But More Breakdancing, the band's first LP, and in celebration they will be playing rarely performed tracks from that album throughout the summer tour, in addition to previewing songs from Bitter Drink, Bitter Moon. A current itinerary is below.

Known for their uniquely brooding sound that frequently conjures desolate imagery, on Bitter Drink, Bitter Moon Murder By Death capture a familiar tone but also explore new territory, adding a further refined sophistication and even richer, full-bodied sound. The varied album - produced by John Congleton (Explosions In The Sky, St. Vincent, Black Mountain) - ranges musically from the spooky and spare opener "My Hill", to the rough, rousing sing-along "Hard World", to the booming, aching waltz of "Ghost Fields." Songs like the cinematic "Lost River" start hushed before rising to a lush crescendo, while "No Oath, No Spell" maintains a dramatic, bluesy swing, and first single "I Came Around" rumbles and rollicks with a hard-charging, barroom flair. Singer Adam Turla's cavernous baritone tells shadowy small-town stories throughout, the songs' oftentimes-upbeat veneer belying a sordid undercurrent. Across Bitter Drink, Bitter Moon Sarah Balliet's sonorous cello and Scott Brackett's multiple instruments (backing vocals, piano, trumpet, and accordion, to name a few) weave irreplaceable accents, and Dagan Thogerson's robust drums and Matt Armstrong's inventive bass lines create a resounding low end.
