Murder By Death Unveil 2011 Tour Dates

Murder By Death have confirmed a two-month headlining tour of the US that begins February 1st in Lexington, Kentucky at Cosmic Charlie's and currently wraps in Bloomington, Illinois, on March 19th at the Castle Theatre. The group is touring in support of their fifth full-length album, "Good Morning, Magpie," which was released on April 6, 2010 (Vagrant).

"We've been holed up at home this winter and are itchin' to hit the road," said singer/guitarist Adam Turla. "Can't wait to share in the drunken rock n' roll revelry!"

Murder By Death - Turla, Sarah Balliet (cello, keys), Matt Armstrong (bass), Dagan Thogerson (drums) and occasional touring keys/horn player Scott Brackett (Okkervil River) - have been touring nearly non-stop since the release of "Good Morning, Magpie" and were recently featured on NPR's World Café near the end of their fall tour.

The New Yorker proclaimed that "Good Morning, Magpie" is, "the four-piece's most accomplished work to date. The eleven new songs find Turla's deep and arid bass-baritone pitted against a tumbledown bricolage of dark vaudeville hysterics and Southern Gothicism." Upon release "GM,M" debuted at #5 on Billboard's Heatseekers Chart and marked the band's debut on Billboard's Top 200 chart.

"Murder By Death conjures a tough, unforgiving place full of passion, humor and occasional violence," according to The San Francisco Chronicle while The New Haven Register said the band, "...takes the best of Tom Waits and Bob Dylan and adds an American gothic vibe." The Dallas Observer adds, "Rarely does a band blend upbeat melodies with downtrodden characters to such a believable effect."
