Murder By Death's 'Bitter Drink, Bitter Moon' Full Album Stream Premieres On MTVHive

Murder By Death premiered a full stream of new album Bitter Drink, Bitter Moon on MTVHive. The album can be heard there through the rest of the week leading up to its September 25th release via Bloodshot Records and is currently available for pre-order via the label's webstore and iTunes.

Last week, Bitter Drink, Bitter Moon track "Lost River" debuted as an exclusive download on RollingStone.com. First single "I Came Around" is available digitally via iTunes.

Following a hometown record release show in Bloomington, IN at the Bluebird Nightclub on September 27th, Murder By Death will join Say Anything for a three and a half week tour in October. The tour begins in Anaheim, CA at the House Of Blues on October 4th and wraps up on October 28th at Korova in San Antonio, TX.

Known for their uniquely brooding sound that frequently conjures desolate imagery, on Bitter Drink, Bitter Moon Murder By Death capture a familiar tone but also explore new territory, adding a further refined sophistication and even richer, full-bodied sound. The varied album - produced by John Congleton (Explosions In The Sky, St. Vincent, Black Mountain) - ranges musically from the spooky and spare opener "My Hill", to the rough, rousing sing-along "Hard World", to the booming, aching waltz of "Ghost Fields." Songs like "Lost River" start hushed before rising to a rich crescendo, while "No Oath, No Spell" maintains a dramatic, bluesy swing, and "I Came Around" rumbles and rollicks with a hard-charging, barroom flair. Singer Adam Turla's cavernous baritone tells shadowy small-town stories throughout, the songs' oftentimes-upbeat veneer belying a sordid undercurrent.

Murder By Death is: Adam Turla (vocals, guitar), Matt Armstrong (bass), Sarah Balliet (cello), Scott Brackett (backing vocals, piano, trumpet, accordion, among others), and Dagan Thogerson (drums). The band recently became the third highest-funded music project in Kickstarter's history, having successfully raised $187,048 to fund the deluxe vinyl edition production of Bitter Drink, Bitter Moon.
