New Keepers Of The Water Towers Announce "The Calydonian Hunt" For April Release

Powerhouse Swedish "beast rock" band New Keepers of the Water Towers will release its new album "The Calydonian Hunt" on April 26 via MeteorCity Records. Boasting a sound that is at once aggressive but also tuneful and memorable, the record is a supremely confident and creative work with surprises lurking around every corner. AOL Music's Noisecreep rolls out the thundering New Keepers track "Abyssal Lord," the first track released from the record.

With a sound described as "a sonic collision between the heaviest of metal and the firmest of rock wrapped in lyrical themes of dwelling beasts and mythical creatures," New Keepers of the Water Towers deliver atightly-executedmix of headiness and brawn. The band's twin guitar attack and striking, earnest riffs create a dense, rhythmic roar assembled in such a way that each song will batter its way into your brain, heart and memory. The riffs are huge, the rhythms are sneaky and brutal, and the complex unison "guitarmonies" effortless, ranging from soft, almost psychedelic sections to gold-plated passages of no-nonsense headbanger frenzy. Vocalist/guitarist Rasmus Booberg's spooky tenor, bluesy inflection and guttural roar rolls like thunder across epic songs spanning both the intense and the sublime, adding depth to an album that is bombastic and exciting from start to finish.

Formed in 2006 when guitarist/vocalist Rasmus Booberg and drummer Tor Sjödén started writing music inspired by the doom metal and stoner rock scene in and around their hometown of Stockholm, Sweden. Over time, the duo evolved into the group known today as "New Keepers of the Water Towers" adding guitarist Victor Berg and later bass-player Robin Holmberg to the lineup. The band has previously released the EPs "Chronicles of the Massive Boar" (2007) and "Chronicles of the Iceman" (2008) which were combined and reissued by MeteorCity Records in 2009 as their first LP, simply titled "Chronicles." Since the release of the EPs, the band has been sliding towards a wider sound, with influences from the first wave of progressive-rock and modern metal. New Keepers of the Water Towers have performed live to raucous crowds in Europe and were a featured act at the 2010 Roskilde Festival (one of the five biggest annual music festivals in Europe) in Roskilde, Denmark. Check out footage of the band at Roskilde performing the song "Persuit of Yeti."

The New Keepers are: Rasmus Booberg (Riffage and Vox-supreme), Tor Sjödén (SkinViolation and Vital Shouts), Victor Berg (Brutal Bender and Gutural Loring) and Robin Holmberg (Quad-String Doombringer).
