Quick Hits & Clips: Abraxas, Megadeth, Peacemaker, Black Tusk

  • Abraxas, the new death metal band featuring Makoto Mizoguchi (Pyrexia, Hate Eternal) on guitar and bass, Mike Hrubovcak (Monstrosity, Vile) on vocals and Lance Wright (Vile) on drums, will see the release of its debut EP, "Wretched Existence," on December 15th via Relapse Records. The EP will feature artwork from Drew Elliott (Amorphis, Necrophagia). Abraxas are streaming three of the EP's four tracks online now via the band's MySpace page. The band is currently writing for their first proper full-length, due out in 2010. Additional details will be announced soon.
  • Shawn Drover of Megadeth has posted his first of four tour blogs on the Sick Drummer Magazine website. Coming to you from the Endgame World Tour, the blogs will talk about life on the road for Drover and the kinds of things he deals with. The first post covers week one of the tour and includes details on shows from: Grand Rapids, Peoria, Milwaulkee, Columbus and Covington.
  • Peacemaker will perform in Tokyo on December 14, 2009. The band will join October Revolution, Retort, Alan Smithee's MAD Universe, Junx Punx, No!z Popinnski and others.
  • Relapse Records have announced the signing of Savannah, GA's Black Tusk. Black Tusk are currently rounding out a run of dates with Black Cobra in the eastern US. Upon returning home, the band will begin writing for their Relapse debut for an expected spring 2010 release date. Black Tusk commented on the signing: "It's awesome to be on a label with so many bands that have helped shaped our tastes and with a staff that treats like family. We're stoked to get this next record out and we have a bunch of tours in the works so keep an eye out."
