Quick Hits & Clips: Good Shoes, Findlay Brown, Pelican, Scanners, Whiplash

  • Good Shoes release the single "Under Control" on January 12th with the album "No Hope, No Future" following on the 26th. Good Shoes will make their debut US appearances in March, dates TBC, including SXSW.
  • Brooklyn by way of Yorkshire's Findlay Brown will be performing on The Late Show with David Letterman, Tuesday, January 12th.
  • Check out Pelican's "Final Breath" video. The track closes the band's new album "What We All Come To Need," released by Southern Lord Records in late October. This track in particular breaks new ground for Pelican as it's the band's first song to feature vocals! The video was directed by Matt Santoro.
  • Check out the first music video off Scanners' upcoming album "Submarine" produced by Stephen Hague (New Order), which will be released in February 16, 2010 through Dim Mak.
  • On January 16th, Whiplash will play a benefit concert for Morgan Harrington, the 20-year-old student from Virginia Tech who was last seen on October 17th near the John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville, VA following a Metallica concert. The event, originally scheduled for December 19th but was postponed due to inclement weather, will be held at The Hat Factory in Richmond, VA and aims to raise awareness of Morgan's disappearance and support the Harrington family's ongoing search to find her. Tickets will be available at the door, day of show ($15.00). All proceeds will go to the Find Morgan Fund. Other bands on the bill include Dangerous New Machine, At War and The Chaos Agent. Doors open at 8:00pm by a candlelight vigil.
