Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Robert Francis will be touring in October to promote his upcoming album "Before Nightfall." Francis and his band will be performing with Noah and the Whale.
Robert Francis is a musical prodigy. The Huffington Post praises Francis' song writing and live performance, "For the uninitiated, Robert's writing style emulates Ry Cooder's and, occasionally, Bruce Springsteen's (he even looks like his skinny little brother). Performance-wise, Robert's sound takes a young, 21st century run at The Band, complete with soulful background vocals by the Laurel Canyon-est looking girl trio. His mid-ranged voice throws just a little Conor Oberst in the mix, though his more assertive vocals and strong falsettos pull the listener off that path pretty quickly."
Since Francis' indie Aeronaut Records release "One by One" in 2007, he has been attracting fans and those-in-the-know all across the country. "One By One" earned positive reviews from critics who compared Francis to a young Townes Van Zandt. The attention led to a record deal with Atlantic Records, which is releasing "Before Nightfall" on October 20th. With Francis' upcoming album he recalls the voice of a simpler and more truthful era when people were singing about things that mattered. Growing up in Los Angeles as the youngest in a family of musicians, he possesses a maturity far beyond his years. With Francis' husky baritone voice, finger-picked acoustic melodies, and uncluttered arrangements he injects one hundred percent truth and emotion into each of his songs. The album was produced by Grammy Award-winning producer D. Sardy (Oasis, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Marilyn Manson, etc).
