Scum Of The Earth Releases 'The Devil Made Me Do It'

Scum of the Earth's third album, The Devil Made Me Do It, on the Chicago-based Goomba Music, Inc. label (with distribution through eOne in North America) hit stores this week. Produced by horror-rocker Riggs and Volkstoker, it was recorded at “Scum HQ” in Branson, MO and is the follow-up to 2007’s Sleaze Freak (Eclipse Records).

The first single, “The Devil Made Me Do It III,” was released in May and was heard during the recent New Jersey Devils Stanley Cup playoff home games. The song was recorded at the Mansion Studio in Branson, MO by Riggs and Brandon Mashburn (Trust Company, The Dreaming).

As Riggs states, “Being that this is 2012 and the end of the world and all, I thought the Scum of the Earth sound has ran its course, so I re invented the sound with the help of a producer/programmer by the name Volkstroker. We worked on the songs for eight months and this was the end result. Check it out before you turn into a zombie. Cheers!”

The vile and despicable mob of macabre is fronted by former Rob Zombie guitarist Riggs, whose artistry and musical vision birthed Scum of the Earth's debut in 2003, which hit hard on topics of lust, carnage, and debauchery strewn across a sanguinary soundscape, with cranium-cracking power and infectious rhythms. Guitar World described the signature Scum of the Earth sound as “…snarling vocals, grind-house guitars, futuristic dance grooves and B-movie sensibilities (and) raw, uncluttered power…” Outburn Magazine hailed Sleaze Freak as “…choppy and addictively catchy industrial aggro.” Fans will be thrilled to know that nothing has changed in the years that followed and now, with The Devil Made Me Do It, they sound as grittier as ever. Dates will be announced within the coming weeks for the band’s upcoming tour.
