Following their July 6th release of "Bears & Bulls" the Stone Foxes have had some exciting happenings in their musical world. Following their sold out album release party at Cafe du Nord in San Francisco on July 17 they were featured on NPR's World Cafe "Next" feature, included in USA Today's Daily playlist for August 2 and their album reached #4 on FMBQ's Modern Albums chart and their single "Stomp" reached # 7 on the Sub Modern singles chart, keeping some good company with bands such as Arcade Fire and School of Seven Bells.
"Stomp," according to drummer Shannon, ".... is meant to be a primal expression of how we all use and abuse our planet. We tried to get to the root of our music by staying natural- no electronics- just vocals, wood and metal. Each member of the band sings lead on a different verse about a different facet of our environment- plants, earth, sky, and animals- so that on the opening track of the record, each member is represented."
The video for "Stomp" is a juxtaposition to the seriousness of the songs meaning. Shot view finder style with an accompanying 3D version, "Stomp" is a fun and playful romp that sees the band traveling to different parts country.
The Stone Foxes will be on tour through out the rest of the summer including a stop at Jazz Aspen where they'll be performing along side bands such as the Black Crowes, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings and Wilco (to name a few).
