The Boxer Rebellion Announce Live Album, First US Dates

UK-based indie-rock band The Boxer Rebellion is proud to announce the release of its recently-issued "Live from London" album and first ever US show dates. On March 9, 2009, the band recorded a full live set at Apple's flagship London store in front of hundreds of prize-winners, becoming the first unsigned band to be invited to do so.

The 9-track album features songs from both the Billboard 100-charting "Union," as well as the band's debut LP, "Exits," and is available now in the iTunes Music Store. The record includes live, unedited versions of tracks such as "Evacuate," "Semi-Automatic," "We Have This Place Surrounded," and "Flashing Red Light Means Go." Previous concerts recorded at the state-of-the-art store include performances by R.E.M, Bloc Party, Kaiser Chiefs, Keane, Elbow, and Duffy.

The Boxer Rebellion made headlines in January by becoming the first unsigned band in history to break the Billboard Top 100 Albums Chart on a digital-only release. Fueled by an unprecedented iTunes "Global Single of the Week" on lead track "Evacuate" (clocking up a staggering 560,000 downloads), the band's self-produced, self-released album "Union" also broke the iTunes Album Chart Top 5 on both sides of the Atlantic 48 hours after release. At times the album was outselling the likes of Kings of Leon, The Killers, and Coldplay, and also knocked the almighty My Morning Jacket off the iTunes US Alternative Chart top-spot, to take pole position.

The Boxer Rebellion is comprised of American vocalist Nathan Nicholson (hailing from Maryville, TN), Aussie guitarist Todd Howe, and a rhythm section in Englishmen Adam Harrison (bass) and Piers Hewitt (drums). Never failing to sell out venues across Europe, the band possesses a fearsome live reputation.

Says frontman Nicholson, "Except for playing coffee shop open-mics during my pre-band college student days, the opportunity to play the States seemed like it would never come to fruition. However, over our years of releasing music we seem to have amassed quite a fanbase in the USA. We found it fitting to confirm our debut appearance at the Troubadour in Los Angeles, followed by 2 nights at the incredible Mercury Lounge in New York. We look forward to being back later in the year for an extended tour."

Additionally, The Boxer Rebellion are confirmed to perform a studio session for KCRW flagship show "Morning Becomes Eclectic" which will broadcast live on April 21st at 11:15am (PST) on 89.9FM and online at KCRW.com.
