The Giving Tree Band Announce New Album

The Giving Tree Band will present "The Joke, The Threat & The Obvious," out September 21st on Crooked Creek Records. As an introduction to their new material, they are offering up their single "Circles" for free to fans that sign up for their mailing list via a streaming player on their website featuring 4 new songs from the album. They've also put together a series of webisodes to illuminate the history of the band. Episode 1 explains how the eight-member band came together piece by piece via friends of friends and in some cases pure chance. It is available to view now on their site and on YouTube.

"The Joke, The Threat & The Obvious" marks the third full-length release for the Yorkville, IL based group. Recorded in their home studio, the album represents their strongest song-craft to date, and is poised to be a break out release for the folksy group described by Jambase as "the essence of true Americana." Started by brothers Todd and Eric Fink six years ago, The Giving Tree Band finally feel as if they are writing the songs they set out to compose when the idea for the group first took shape. Besides the natural gains in experience that come with time and touring together, a large part of their progress on this album is due in part to it being the first release they've recorded with a drummer. It also benefits from the familial camaraderie that came with recording "The Joke, The Threat & The Obvious" at the home studio where six of eight band members live together. These factors added greatly to the songwriting Honest Tune had already described as "resonating with a spirit that transcends centuries."

Aside from making immense strides musically, The Giving Tree Band continue their green efforts as a band. They have always made environmentally conscious living a maxim behind their lifestyle and operation as a band, rather than an add on message that takes a back seat to the music. Tellingly they have been declared "The Greenest Band In The Land" by Mother Earth News, and their last full-length release was dubbed the "world's greenest album" by the Chicago Sun-Times. "The Joke, The Threat & The Obvious" continues in their tradition of producing carbon neutral records, and their touring has recently benefited from the purchase of a bio-diesel van.

This summer The Giving Tree Band plan to tour the country as they prepare for the release of their forthcoming album.
