The Lodger will release a new single, "Have A Little Faith In People," via This Is Fake DIY Records on April 5. It is the first track taken from forthcoming third album, "Flashbacks," out April 26. The single comes backed with brand new B-sides "The Best I Ever Had" and "The Honest Song."
The A-side is a two-minute soul-pop blast with horns, female backing vocals, and a lyric seeing the band taking a rare look on the bright side. It was recorded on to tape with producer Richard Formby (Wild Beasts, Spacemen 3).
The two new B-sides were produced at home by singer and songwriter Ben Siddall using a laptop; 'The Best I Ever Had' features judicious use of the Casiotone 403 organ, while 'The Honest Song' is a lovelorn lament with a string section and a shuffle beat.
"Flashbacks" is the third album from Leeds-based quartet, The Lodger, following 2008's "Life Is Sweet" and stop-gap EP, "I Think I Need You," released in May last year.
Produced by Richard Formby (Wild Beasts, Spacemen 3), "Flashbacks" features an additional ensemble of seven cohorts and co-conspirators, increasing the quartet's scope further with the use of orchestral instruments and more detailed arrangements. The music brings in strings, horns and layered backing vocals.
