The Willowz Announce National Tour With Detroit Cobras

posted June 20, 2007

The Willowz Announce National Tour With Detroit CobrasAfter completing a national headlining tour this spring in support of their new album, "Chautauqua," The Willowz will tour North America with The Detroit Cobras this summer. The Willowz are the direct support for the Detroit Cobras for the July dates. Beginning in August, Dan Sartain will join The Willowz and Detroit Cobras on the remainder of the live dates.

During the spring tour, The Willowz played various radio stations including KEXP/Seattle (April 7), WOXY/Cincinnati (April 19) and WNYU/NYC (April 25).

Released March 2007 through Dim Mak, "Chautauqua" is the follow up to "Talk In Circles," which made Rolling Stone’s “Top 50 Albums in 2005,” and LA Weekly nominated The Willowz as top rock band that year.

Started in 2002 by Richie James Follin (singer/guitarist) and Jessica Reynoza (bassist/vocals) in their hometown of Anaheim, CA, the current line-up also features Aric Bohn on guitar and Loren “Ted” Shane Humpheys on drums. "Chautauqua" provides the energy and rawness of the first two albums infused with a thicker rock sound, and is more focused on songwriting.

Legendary film and video auteur Michel Gondry featured Willowz tracks on both the Grammy-winning, Oscar-nominated soundtrack for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and used two Willowz tracks as the only rock music in his current film release The Science of Sleep. Gondry also directed the video for I Wonder, included on the Willowz 27-video 2006 DVD release "Talk in Circles, See in Squares." "TICSS" has won innumerable awards, including one for the The Willowz Cons and Tricks video, directed by Toben Seymour and awarded a place in the Top Ten Videos of 2006 on MTV2’s Subterranean. The Willowz partner again with Toben Seymour on “Jubilee,” the first video from "Chautauqua."

With over 30 videos completed in the band’s short career, check out the latest video for “Nobody” (directed by Amanda Milius) or view the video for “Evil Son” below.
