Unicycle Loves You To Give Away Homemade Coloring Books

Warm up this holiday season with the bright sound of cult-film inspired surf-rock from Chicago's finest, Unicycle Loves You. If you're in the Chicago metro area, Unicycle Loves You will be headlining at Beat Kitchen on Thursday, December 30th, doors at 9 PM, with Elephant Gun and Laarks showing their support. To add to the festivities, guitarist Jim Carroll and bassist Nicole Vitale created a 20 page "not-so-much for kids" coloring book, to be handed out, along with a copy of the newly-released, critically acclaimed "Mirror, Mirror" (Highwheel Records, Sept. 7, 2010), to the first 100 attendees. The coloring books will also be available for purchase.

Carroll adds, "While many of the sounds and vibes on 'Mirror, Mirror' were influenced by the cult films we love, much of the inspiration also came from these Macmillan educational children's text books from the '70s that Highwheel Records have been keeping in storage. We obtained permission for the use of the ‘Ghost In The Mirror' image in the album art and the poem Nicole reads in ‘The Small Print' from the creators of these books for our album. And ‘There's A Giant Walking In My Heart' is actually a title of a poem written by a group of kids from one of the books. So, the coloring book is kind of an homage to these ridiculously crazy books."

This end-of-year celebration is certainly in order, as 2010 proved to be epic for the band, between sharing a stage with Weezer and Yo Gabba Gabba, to releasing "Mirror Mirror," to a huge run at CMJ Festival.
