Walter Schreifels Covers Agnostic Front On Forthcoming Album

Though his upcoming debut solo album, "An Open Letter To The Scene" (May 4th; Academy Fight Song), is a collection of melodic, indie rock gems, Walter Schreifels began his musical career playing in legendary '80s hardcore bands Gorilla Biscuits and Youth of Today. He also went on to front the pioneering post-hardcore band Quicksand as well as alternative rockers Rival Schools (who are releasing a new album later this year). Schreifels reflects on his roots throughout "An Open Letter" but his cover of Agnostic Front's classic "Society Suckers" might be the album's most prominent juxtaposition of his current state with his hardcore beginnings.

Fans who pre-order "An Open Letter" from Academy Fight Song have several great packages to choose from. Academy Fight Song and Schreifels have also decided to donate some of the proceeds from the album to One Love For Chi, a fundraising charity for Deftones bass player Chi Cheng, who has been in a coma since a car accident in November 2008.

Schreifels also two upcoming New York shows. He'll be playing a free show for Record Store Day April 17th at Generation Records (with Cymbals Eat Guitars, Andrew WK DJ set, and more) as well as an album release show on May 5th at The Studio in Webster Hall.
