"Heart-quaking doom pop." That's how War Tapes' frontman, Neil Popkin, describes the band's debut album, "The Continental Divide," which hit stores yesterday via Sarathan Records. The foursome, based in Los Angeles, have roots as diverse as a classically trained pianist to a punk guitarist, which lets the band capitalize off each individual's strengths to form a uniquely interesting group dynamic. Having played with the likes of The Smashing Pumpkins, The Bravery, Longwave and Shiny Toy Guns, the band's gloomy pop style has been winning over fans as diverse as their own influences.
The band are crossing the country this summer on tour with industrial icons, VNV Nation.
