WXPN, the nationally-recognized leader in Triple A (Adult Album Alternative) music and a noncommercial radio service of the University of Pennsylvania, will broadcast live the Monsters of Folk concert from the Academy of Music tonight starting at 8 pm.
Monsters of Folk is a supergroup consisting of Jim James from My Morning Jacket, Conor Oberst and Mike Mogis from Bright Eyes and M. Ward. The group formed in 2004 when the members toured together with their respective bands and solo projects.
Tonight's two and a half hour musical event will showcase brand new songs from Monsters of Folk's debut album as well as songs fans have come to enjoy from their respective Bright Eyes, My Morning Jacket and M. Ward catalogues.
"We're thrilled to be able to share this live concert with our many listeners," said Bruce Warren, Assistant General Manager for Programming at WXPN. "The artists that make up Monsters of Folk are an essential part of the XPN community, and tonight's show is going to be a unique musical experience."
