Volcom Entertainment is proud to announce the addition of
Year Long Disaster to their roster of artists. Rock trio, YLD, is led by guitarist and vocalist Daniel Davies, the son of Kinks’ guitarist Dave Davies. Bass player, Rich Mullins, has toured the world in his past lives with Karma to Burn and Speedealer. And, Brad Hargreaves is no stranger to bright lights and big cities – he’s the drummer of the multi-platinum band Third Eye Blind. Together, they are indeed, Year Long Disaster.
With incessant touring through self-booked tours, YLD have honed their rock chops, built a rabid fan base and critics have taken notice. The Pittsburgh Tribune Review described their show as, “echoes of the hard-driving rock music of the late 1960s and 1970s a la Led Zeppelin, Cream and Free.” The Charleston Daily Mail noted, “The drums thump, the bass bumps and the guitar shrieks!” The Los Angeles City Beat raved, “Singer-guitarist Daniel Davies wails and howls like a tormented Robert Plant or Jack White and his blistering leads are indeed something to witness. He and his furious rhythm section even wowed a bunch of jaded types!” Guitar One magazine hailed Year Long Disaster as one of the “New Sons of Sabbath” and “Your New Favorite Band.” And, Editor in Chief of Guitar World magazine touted, “YLD sounds like a dream mash-up of Led Zeppelin and Jeff Buckley sporting some of the best hooks I’ve heard in months!”
Year Long Disaster will spend the next three weeks in Tucson, Arizona with producer/engineer Jim Waters (Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, RL Burnside) recording their debut album slated for release September 25, 2007 on Volcom Entertainment.
